In order to maintain indexes that are representative of global equity markets, Russell annually rebalances the entire Russell family of indexes.
All Russell US Indexes are subsets of the Russell 3000® Index, which includes the large cap Russell 1000® Index and small cap Russell 2000® Index. Russell is a source for index data and a default reference for investors all around the world and are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors as benchmarks for both passive and active investment strategies.
