TORONTO, ON and LIMA, Peru, March 4 /CNW/ - Norsemont Mining Inc. ("Norsemont" or the "Company") (TSX: NOM) (BVL: NOM) today announced the resignation of six members of the board of directors and corresponding appointment of six new directors. Resigning from the board are George Bell, Louis Gignac, Ian Masterton-Hume, Brian Kerzner, John Mears and Malcolm Siverns. New board members are David Bryson, Ken Gillis, Tom Goodman, Alan Hair, H. Maura Lendon and Cashel Meagher. They join remaining board members Augusto Baertl, Bob Baxter, Patrick Evans and Bob Parsons. The new directors are all executives of HudBay Minerals Inc. ("HudBay") (TSX: HBM, NYSE: HBM).
Commenting, Norsemont CEO Patrick Evans said: "I am very pleased to welcome to the board of directors six representatives of our new principal shareholder, HudBay Minerals, and extend my thanks and appreciation to the departing directors for their contributions to the success of Norsemont".
On March 1, 2011 announced it has been successful in its bid to acquire Norsemont under its offer dated January 24, 2011. HudBay currently owns approximately 91% of Norsemont's common shares (on a fully-diluted basis). HudBay has extended its offer until 5:00 p.m. (Toronto time) on March 15, 2011 to enable Norsemont shareholders who have not yet tendered their common shares to accept the offer.
