Weyerhaeuser Community Fund Contributes $500,000 To Aid Recovery Efforts in Japan

The Weyerhaeuser Community Fund today announced it is donating $500,000
to the American Red Cross to help those on Honshu Island affected by the
March 11 earthquake and tsunami.

The entire contribution will assist in immediate, short-term relief
efforts coordinated by the Japanese Red Cross.

In addition to today′s contribution, Weyerhaeuser businesses are working
with their customers to develop plans for longer-term recovery support
when the rebuilding process begins.

'As a result of a relationship that dates back to 1923, our company has
close ties with the people of Japan and today′s contribution marks the
beginning of our efforts to aid Japan′s recovery,? said Dan Fulton,
Weyerhaeuser president and chief executive officer. 'In addition,
because many of us at Weyerhaeuser know individuals affected by the
earthquake and tsunami, many of our employees are making personal
contributions as well.?

Approximately 10 percent of Weyerhaeuser′s sales are to Japan. The
company sells pulp, liquid packaging board, logs, lumber and wood chips
to Japan. Weyerhaeuser started selling lumber to Japan in 1923 following
the Great Kanto earthquake that devastated Tokyo and Yokohama.
