KTG Agrar SE targeting the Asian food market

- Food made in Germany very much appreciated in China
- The quality strategy "from field to plate" opens up clear opportunities for KTG
Hamburg, 4 May 2015. KTG Agrar SE (ISIN: DE000A0DN1J4) is targeting one of the world's most important markets. From 6 to 8 May, the company will exhibit at SIAL China in Shanghai, the largest food fair in Asia, at a specially designed exhibition booth. By attending the trade fair, the company is sending a clear signal to push ahead the market entry in China, which has been prepared for several months. KTG Foods SE has closely analysed the huge potential for the development of the Chinese market. "The 'made in Germany' seal and our 'from field to plate' strategy are ideal for the Chinese market. China's strongly growing middle and upper classes are willing to pay much higher prices for German quality products than Europeans. Our 'Die Landwirte' brand concept is ideally tailored to customer requirements in the Middle Kingdom, which has a market potential of over 350 million consumers, i.e. nearly as much as South America's entire population," said Reinhard Meißner, Management Board member of KTG Foods SE, which serves as the umbrella for the KTG Group's food activities.
After the market research initiated and concluded by KTG Foods SE as well as intensive talks with Chinese authorities, market participants, associations and chambers of commerce, it is only a logical step for Siegfried Hofreiter, CEO KTG Agrar SE, to seize the opportunities offered by the Asian market. "German food farmers are a big issue in China, as the Chinese know very well that German companies have very high quality standards. Just like their European counterparts, Chinese consumers are increasingly sceptical about food and are looking for food that is safe and reliable and comes directly from the producer. Besides food safety, healthy nutrition is also playing an important role. China is the ideal market for our products made from crops harvested from our own fields."
The studies we conducted among Chinese consumers are very encouraging.
After a thorough analysis and studies of Chinese consumer trends and local particularities, KTG will actively work the Chinese market. Says Reinhard Meißner: "We know which types of muesli the Chinese prefer and we are aware of their eating habits and their design preferences. This gives us the self-confidence we need to approach the identified target group in China. We will take our 'from field to plate' proposition to China and implement it locally with great success."
