KTG Agrar SE pools food activities with over EUR 100 million in revenues

- Reinhard Meißner to become CEO of KTG Foods SE
- Andreas Plietker to become Managing Director of Bio-Zentrale
- New chapter in the success story "From the field to the plate - from a single source"

Hamburg, 14 July 2014 - Since early 2011, KTG Agrar SE (ISIN: DE000A0DN1J4) has successfully extended the value chain from the primary production of agricultural produce to the processing and production of foods. "With the help of takeovers and investments, we have developed a unique business model over the past years," says Siegfried Hofreiter, CEO of KTG Agrar SE. "We will now pool the activities surrounding the processing of agricultural products into high-quality foods and their distribution under a single roof in order to leverage synergies and further improve the service for our customers." Going forward, "Frenzel Tiefkühlkost", "Bio-Zentrale Naturprodukte", "Ölmühle Anklam", "die Landwirte" and the fresh produce facility in Linthe will continue to grow under the umbrella of KTG Foods SE.

Reinhard Meißner has been appointed CEO of KTG Foods SE. His latest position as Managing Director of Campbell's Germany, the leading supplier of high-quality soups, stews and ready-made meals, with well-known brands such as Erasco and Heisse Tasse, and other management positions in the food sector mean he has long-standing experience in the food business. Reinhard Meißner will be supported by Bernd Schmitz-Lothmann. Mr Schmitz-Lothmann's most recent position was that of Managing Director of Bio-Zentrale. Going forward, he will focus on export development within KTG Foods SE. His successor as Managing Director of Bio-Zentrale is Andreas Plietker, who has taken up the position with immediate effect. He also has long-standing experience in the food sector, e.g. as Managing Director of Davert, the organic food specialist. Says Siegfried Hofreiter: "We are pleased that we have been able to win two real industry experts for the KTG Group in Reinhard Meißner and Andreas Plietker. We are convinced that the whole team will continue the success story 'From the field to the plate'."

KTG Agrar started its farming activities in the mid-1990s and cultivates land in east Germany and Lithuania. In 2011, the company began to extend the value chain with a clear strategic objective in mind: regional food production from the field to the plate. For this purpose, KTG made selective acquisitions such as Ölmühle Anklam and also injected new life into Frenzel Tiefkühlkost, a Ringleben-based company rich in tradition. The takeover of Bio-Zentrale Naturprodukte marked the Group's entry into the organic food segment. Autumn 2013 then saw the completion of the state-of-the-art fresh produce facility in Linthe. Located just outside of Berlin, the new facility packages up to 400 tons of vegetables per day for delivery to central markets, processors - including KTG's own subsidiaries - and food retailers in the region. Above and beyond the established brands "Frenzel" and "Bio-Zentrale", KTG has developed an exciting proprietary brand under the name of "Die Landwirte". Launched in autumn 2013, the brand's mueslis from internally grown cereals, potato dishes, potato boxes and vegetable oils are already available in several thousand leading retail stores in Germany.

"Today we offer our partners a full range of domestic products, from fresh potatoes to tasty convenience meals to GMO-free soy oil," says Reinhard Meißner. "No matter whether it's grown conventionally or organically, our brands offer produce from a single source with a unique origin and producer concept."

In the coming years, the individual brands will continue to grow under the umbrella of KTG Foods. Having contributed approx. EUR 56 million to KTG Agrar's consolidated sales revenues in 2013, they are expected to contribute as much as EUR 100 million this year.
