Fuel Your School Program Benefits Nearly 700,000 Students in Nine Communities Across the U.S.

Chevron U.S.A. Inc. and DonorsChoose.org today announced that its Fuel
Your School program funded $4.49 million, benefitting local
classroom projects at 1,733 K-12 public schools across the country and
impacting a total of 697,904 students in 2012.

Through Chevron′s Fuel Your School program, 5,673 teachers in nine
markets received critical classroom resources. Ashley Pelafigue, a
kindergarten teacher at Pierre A. Capdau Charter School in New Orleans,
recently received classroom materials to replace items that were lost
years ago during Hurricane Katrina. Now she can teach about plants,
matter and the solar system using learning
libraries and activity tubs to help her eager young students explore
these topics further and solve science and math problems.

'There are many obstacles that my students have to overcome,? said
Pelafigue. 'I am so grateful for the materials received through the Fuel
Your School program. These new resources give them a chance to learn and
succeed in subjects that are vital to their academic success.?

Through the Fuel Your School program, Chevron contributed $1 for
purchases of eight or more gallons, up to a total contribution of nearly
$5 million, between Oct. 1 and Oct. 31 at participating Chevron and
Texaco stations in nine U.S. markets, including St. Tammany, Orleans and
Plaquemines parishes, La.; Harris County, Texas; Jackson County, Miss.;
Salt Lake and Davis counties, Utah; Multnomah County, Ore.; and
Sacramento, Kern, Orange, Alameda and Contra Costa counties, Calif. In
total, $4.49 million dollars were generated to benefit public school
classroom projects posted on DonorsChoose.org.

The purpose of the Fuel Your School program is to help support and
improve critical education programming and materials, particularly in
the STEM subjects ? science, technology, engineering and math ? to help
prepare students for the growing number of technical jobs in the modern
economy, including possible engineering positions at Chevron.

'Teachers spend on average more than $350 of their own money every year
on materials for their students,? said Charles Best, CEO of
DonorsChoose.org. 'Chevron is quick to respond to this incredible demand
and as a result, the Fuel Your School program has grown to impact nearly
700,000 students across nine U.S. markets this year.?

Since its inception in 2010, Fuel Your School has benefitted 8,915
classroom projects at 1,924 schools. The program has grown each year to
support students in communities where the company has significant
business operations. Chevron works with local communities, governments
and non-profit organizations to help increase learning opportunities for
students and support the development of the social and economic vitality
of each community. Over the past three years, Chevron has contributed
nearly $100 million for education in the U.S.
