TORONTO, CANADA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/01/10 -- Gabriel Resources Ltd. (TSX: GBU) ('Gabriel' or the 'Company') announces that the members of the Romanian Technical Analysis Committee ('TAC') have now met and the process for the environmental permitting for the Company's 80.46%-owned Rosia Montana Project ('the Project') in Romania is now underway. As previously reported, the review is a necessary stage in the overall evaluation of the Environmental Impact Assessment ('EIA') of the Project, a process that will be overseen by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry ('the Ministry').
Additionally the Company announces that the Bucharest Tribunal today rejected the request for the suspension of the urbanism certificate No. 87/2010, filed by Greenpeace Romania and the Centre of Legal Resources against Alba County Council and the Company's local operation subsidiary, Rosia Montana Gold Corporation ('RMGC'). This decision confirms the validity of the urbanism certificate issued to RMGC. This is the sixth consecutive and important litigation that RMGC has won this year.
