OKLAHOMA CITY, Nov. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- American Energy Partners, LP announced today that it has hired Jeff Fisher as its Chief Operating Officer. Fisher, 53, previously worked for Chesapeake Energy Corp. (NYSE:CHK) for ten years in increasing roles of importance. In 2003-04, he served as Operations Manager; in 2005-06, as Vice President, Operations – Southern Division; from 2006-12, as Senior Vice President – Production; and in 2012-13, as Executive Vice President – Production. Prior to Chesapeake, he worked in various engineering and operational leadership roles at BP, Vastar, and Arco. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1983.
During Fisher's ten years at Chesapeake, he was responsible for multiple upstream operations and integrated field developments that helped the company become the second largest producer of natural gas in the U.S. and the 11th largest liquids producer. Fisher oversaw an operations team with more than 2,000 employees, 23,000 operated wells and 40,000 total properties and also supervised more than 12,000 well completions and assisted in running a drilling program that at one time reached 175 rigs, the most active drilling program in U.S. E&P history. In addition, he helped coordinate the daily interaction among Chesapeake's operations teams and the company's midstream business unit (Chesapeake Midstream Partners, LP, now Access Midstream Partners, NYSE:ACMP) and its oilfield services business unit (Chesapeake Oilfield Services, one of the nation's largest oilfield services businesses).
