CALGARY, May 18 /CNW/ -- CALGARY, May 18 /CNW/ - With firefighters from across Canada still battling to control wildfires in northern Alberta, Apache Canada Ltd. (Apache Canada) is contributing to much-needed relief efforts with a donation of $80,000 to the Canadian Red Cross.
'The wildfires in Alberta are unprecedented and have had a devastating impact on the Town of Slave Lake and surrounding communities,' said Tim Wall, President of Apache Canada Ltd. 'Everyone at Apache is sending heartfelt thoughts to those affected by the fires.'
Apache employees who work and live in the community have been touched by the fires. The $80,000 donation to the Canadian Red Cross is made in their names and in the names of their families.
'I commend the firefighters, local leadership, provincial government and relief workers who are working night and day to control the fires, restore vital services and assist Albertans during this very difficult time,' added Wall. 'There is a tremendous amount of work that is needed to rebuild the affected communities, and Apache is there to lend a helping hand.'
Taken aback by the reach of the blaze, Apache employees have overwhelmingly expressed their desire to help those affected by the wildfire. In addition to its $80,000 donation, Apache has also launched an internal fundraising campaign to support families in need.
Apache is taking all necessary precautions to keep staff and communities near its Marten Hills, Kaybob and House Mountain units safe and is assessing the impact of the wild fires.
