Aspire Mining Limited (ASX: AKM) (PINK: ASPXF) is pleased to announce that it has now received all outstanding raw coal sample analyses from its 2010 drilling programme. These results have confirmed the high quality of its coking coal resource at the Ovoot Coking Coal Project (Ovoot) in northern Mongolia.
Aspire will now incorporate the raw coal data into the Ovoot resource model for future mine planning and open pit optimisation.
High Quality Coal Confirmed
Under the ASTM coal ranking system, Ovoot coking coal is classified as High Volatile Bituminous - B.
Under the ISO coal classification standards, Ovoot coking coal is classified as Medium Rank B, high vitrinite, low ash, coking coal (washed 31.5 x 0 mm).
Under both classification systems, Ovoot coking coal has been confirmed as a high quality coking coal.
Infill Drilling Identifies Thick, Near-Surface Coal
Infill drilling commenced at the Ovoot Coking Coal Project in March 2011. Three holes have now been completed.
DH 246
- Upper Seam 35.6 metres of coal from 123.2 metres
- Lower Seam 9.8 metres of coal from 212.4 metres
DH 247
- Upper Seam 24.1 metres of coal from 83.5 metres
- Upper Seam 37.2 metres of coal from 114 metres
- Lower Seam 23.5 metres of coal from 219.5 metres
DH 248
- Upper Seam 22.8 metres of coal from 98.9 metres
- Lower Seam 9.4 metres of coal from 164.7 metres
All holes were cored through the coal seams to provide further samples for quality analysis.
It is expected that a small number of further infill holes will be required to confirm the most appropriate location for the starter pit for the Stage 1 DSO Project. This will enable the completion of a mine plan which will feed into the commenced DSO Scoping Study.
2011 Exploration Program
A second open hole drilling rig has now been mobilised to site. Aspire has also received an interpretation of two-dimensional seismic program undertaken over the winter.
The interpretation has provided a number of drilling targets, extending the resource area. It is expected these targets will be progressively tested over the coming months.
Two-dimensional seismic work continues to be performed over the Zuun Del Prospect on the eastern portion of the Ovoot licence area.
