VANCOUVER, Sept. 9, 2013 -
PMI Gold Corporation (TSX:PMV) (ASX:PVM) ("the Company") is pleased to announce that it has appointed corporate advisory/finance executive Mr. John Ciganek as General Manager Corporate Development, further strengthening the PMI Gold management team as the Company transitions from explorer/developer into production at the Obotan Gold Project in Ghana, West Africa.
Mr. Ciganek is a qualified Mining Engineer who commenced his career with Comalco / Rio Tinto (then CRA) at its bauxite and kaolin operations at Weipa in North Queensland Australia. He worked in gold and copper mining operations in Western Australia and the Northern Territory before joining ILA Pty Ltd where he became involved in the delivery of various mining studies, due diligence exercises and in making recommendations on acquisitions, including some work in Africa. This position led directly to his roles, as Bank's Engineer and Risk Executive, with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia where he was involved in a range of project and corporate financing transactions (some in excess of A$1 billion).
Since 2005, John has been working at a senior executive level in the resources finance and corporate advisory space working closely with a range of mining companies and advising them on mergers, acquisitions and debt and/or equity funding. He holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and was a Partner and co-founder of Eversprings Partners, an independent merchant banking and advisory firm focused on the resources sector.
Mr. Ciganek is currently based in Sydney Australia, but will relocate to PMI Gold's Perth office to take up his appointment effective September 9, 2013. The position will report directly to the Managing Director and will be responsible for the corporate growth strategy through the support of the development and future operating activities, equity/debt financing and the evaluation and management of M&A opportunities. Additionally the role will be responsible for all investor relations and interfacing with the various securities commissions and exchanges (TSX and ASX).
