Alpha Natural Resources Affiliates Issue WARN Notice to Certain Mining Operations Due to Potential Asset Sale

BRISTOL, Va., July 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Three operating affiliates of Alpha Natural Resources Inc. (NYSE: ANR) have notified their employees today that they may sell substantially all of the assets of the mining operations where these employees work.  In accordance with requirements of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, the operators have given notice to approximately 292 employees at six mines and a processing plant in southwest Virginia and eastern Kentucky of the expected idling of those facilities in anticipation of their potential sale. 

The mining operations affected by the WARN notice are:
