Weyerhaeuser Indefinitely Closes Oregon Timberlands to Public Access Due to Extreme Forest Fire Danger
08.09.2011 | Business Wire
Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE:WY) today announced effective immediately
that all of its western Oregon timberlands will be closed to public
access due to the current extreme forest fire danger. Public access to
its timberlands will remain closed until the weather improves.
Due to the hot weather, wildfire danger is at the highest levels of the
summer and likely to rise further in the coming days. According to the
Oregon Department of Forestry, the high heat, low humidity, and
lightning in the forecast, puts fire danger at high or extreme across
most of the state ? in the drier eastern and interior southwestern
regions, as well as in the Coast Range and the Willamette Valley.
