TORONTO, Dec. 3, 2012 /CNW/ - Atlanta Gold Inc. (TSXV: ATG; OTCQX: ATLDF) (the "Company") announces that the U.S. District Court for the State of Idaho has granted to the Company's wholly-owned subsidiary, Atlanta Gold Corporation ("AGC") a six-month extension of the time to pay the US$2,000,000 Court-imposed penalty from October 31, 2012 to April 30, 2013. The outstanding penalty will bear interest at approximately 10% per annum from November 28, 2012 until it is paid in full. The penalty pertains to AGC's non-compliance with the United States Federal Water Pollution Control Act with respect to treatment of water discharge at the historic 900 level adit located near Atlanta, in Elmore County, Idaho.
The installation and commissioning of an innovative water treatment system has been completed by Atlanta. This new system has allowed AGC to consistently meet the effluent standards over the past few weeks. Management believes this new system will prove useful to others in Idaho who have been having difficulty meeting water effluent standards.
