Sienna Gold Appoints Jorge D. Benavides to the Board of Directors

CALGARY, April 11, 2012 - Sienna Gold Inc. ("Sienna" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:SGP) (LMA:SGP) is pleased to announced that Jorge D. Benavides has been appointed as a director of Sienna. Mr. Benavides brings a formidable amount of mineral exploration and development experience to the Board.

Mr. Benavides has approximately 35 years of experience as an exploration geologist, exploration manager, corporate development executive and board member. Holding a science degree in Geological Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and a Master of Science Degree in Ore Deposits and Exploration from Stanford University, he has worked for several international and Latin American exploration and mining companies,including Phelps Dodge and Hochchild Mining PLC. He also is currently President, CEO and board member of Zincore Metals Inc., a TSX and BVL listed zinc and associated base metals exploration company, and sits on the boards of ECI Exploration and Mining Inc. and Pembrook Mining Corp., both private Canadian exploration companies.

At the present time, Mr. Benavides lives in Lima, Peru where he operates a mining consulting company. The Company welcomes Mr. Benavides to the board and looks forward to his insight and knowledge of the Peruvian mining scene.

The Company is currently issuing 600,000 options pursuant to the Company stock option plan, 550,000 of which will go to a director. These options have an exercise price of $0.47 and expire five (5) years from date of issue.

Sienna Gold Inc. is a gold exploration company with property interests in Peru. Its key prospect is the Igor Mine Project, a formerly producing mine that the Corporation plans to explore further.
