Paramount Receives an Environmental Award From the State of Nevada’s Commission on Mineral Resources

08.10.2019 | 13:00 Uhr | GlobeNewswire

WINNEMUCCA, Oct. 08, 2019 - Paramount Gold Nevada Corp. (NYSE American: PZG) ("Paramount” or “the Company”) announced today that the Company has earned an Excellence in Mine Reclamation Award from the State of Nevada’s Division of Minerals for the Company’s reclamation efforts at its wholly-owned Sleeper Mine.

The Sleeper Gold Project is a former high-grade open pit gold producer located off a main highway approximately 25 miles northwest of the town of Winnemucca, Nevada. The famed Sleeper Mine was operated by AMAX Gold Inc. (“Amax”) from 1986 until 1996, producing 1.66 million ounces of gold and 2.3 million ounces of silver.

During the month of July an expert commission of representatives from the US Forest Service, the Nevada Department of Environmental Protection, the Nevada Division of Minerals, the Nevada Department of Wildlife, and the Bureau of Land Management visited and reviewed the reclamation of the Sleeper Pit and our management of surface and underground water. The award was recently presented to Nancy Wolverson, Paramount’s US Project Manager and Permitting Coordinator, at the Nevada Mining Association’s annual convention awards luncheon in South Lake Tahoe.

Paramount President and CEO, Glen Van Treek commented, “This recognition is a testament to our commitment as a company to meeting our responsibilities to the environment and our obligations to regulators. We have been managing the reclamation of Sleeper for many years and we have developed valuable expertise in such key areas as water management. This award is an important independent confirmation of our corporate values at a time when we are in the process of permitting Grassy Mountain in Oregon and should also benefit us when the time comes to commence the permitting process to reopen the Sleeper Mine.”

About Paramount Gold Nevada Corp.

Paramount Gold Nevada is a U.S. based precious metals exploration and development company. Paramount’s strategy is to create shareholder value through exploring and developing its mineral properties and to realize this value for its shareholders in three ways: by selling its assets to established producers; entering into joint ventures with producers for construction and operation; or constructing and operating mines for its own account.

Paramount owns 100% of the Grassy Mountain Gold Project which consists of approximately 11,000 acres located on private and BLM land in Malheur County, Oregon. The Grassy Mountain Gold Project contains a gold-silver deposit (100% located on private land) for which results of a positive PFS have been released and key permitting milestones accomplished (see press release dated May 24, 2018). Additionally, Paramount owns a 100% interest in the Sleeper Gold Project located in Northern Nevada. The Sleeper Gold Project, which includes the former producing Sleeper mine, totals 2,322 unpatented mining claims (approximately 60 square miles or 15,500 hectares).
