VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Aug 31, 2017) - AsiaBaseMetals Inc. (the "Company") (TSX VENTURE: ABZ) is pleased to announce that it has appointed Mr. Carl Hering, Ph.D. to the Advisory Board of the Company.
Dr. Hering, a geologist, with over 35 years of diversified technical and managerial experience in mineral exploration and corporate development worldwide, was instrumental in two major gold discoveries in Latin America, each exceeding 3 million ounces, and while a director and technical advisor of Brett Resources Inc., he acquired and advanced of the Hammond Reef, Ontario gold project. Brett was subsequently acquired by Osisko for approximately $375 million and Hammond Reef now exceeds 10M ounces of gold.
He has experience in all aspects of the mining industry, including exploration, from generative to advanced projects, negotiations, acquisition evaluation, mine and corporate valuation, management, strategic planning and new program design and implementation. Dr. Hering previously worked in senior exploration positions for both Noranda Exploration and Placer Dome Inc. He worked for Noranda Exploration from 1978 to 1988, primarily in the western U.S. From 1989 to 1997 he worked for Placer Dome in the U.S. (District Geologist, Western Great Basin), Latin America (Regional Geologist Mexico and Central America), Austral-Asia (Exploration Manager Asia-Pacific) and subsequently in Vancouver, coordinating technical evaluations for major acquisition opportunities worldwide for Placer Dome Corporate Development. From 1997 to 1999 he was Vice President Corporate Acquisitions for Bema Gold Corp.. Other than 2006, when he held the position of Senior V. P. Exploration and Business Development for Rio Narcea Gold Mines, he has been an independent consultant and is a Director of several public companies. He has led teams that have discovered over 20M ounces of gold and made acquisition recommendation that could have led to another 20M oz Au.
